The Ultimate Guide for Setting Business Goals in 2022

The Ultimate Guide for Setting Business Goals in 2022

How often have you set a goal and not achieved it? Or you reached a goal but the entire process made you miserable and spiteful?

New year new me you hear people say but what if the way you’re making goals is holding you back?

You need to make a plan of action and by the end of this blog you’ll know exactly how to make that plan to take your business and personal life to the next level.

Regardless of where you are in your business journey, before you start setting your goals you have to first identify your overall vision of why you decided to become a business owner.

This is your vision and values, the northern star that dictates and guides every decision you make for your business.

Every goal you set should help you get at least one percent closer to your true north!

Just think about, it what do you want out of your business and where do you see yourself one, two, and five years from now?

Is it making enough money so you can quit your job and do your business full time? Or paying down your student loans and becoming debt free?

Be specific on the kind of life you want to be living.

This vision can be considered the map you will use to get there!

Don’t worry if you don’t know where you are heading. If you’re going to write your destiny you can do a bad first job at it.

You hear often that people are more unhappy looking back at their life on the things they didn’t do instead of the mistakes they made along the way. So don’t worry about the vision you write down because you can change it along the way if you find the current path you’re on is not where you want it to be.

Whatever vision or north star you decide you want to write it down on a post-it note or whiteboard in an area you will see each and every day.

This reminder will help you tremendously through all the ups and downs of being a business owner especially when times are tough. A quick glance at your north star when having a bad day can help push through whatever obstacles currently in front of you!

On my own vision board i have the vision to make enough money with my scoops and youtube to pay down my student loans and save for a house!

Every decision and goal i make with my pet waste removal business must help me reach that vision, otherwise it’s not a goal that’s worth pursuing for me.

If your vision was the map used to guide your ideal life, then setting goals are the destinations along the journey that help you get there!

Goal setting will be the actionable steps you take for your business to help you achieve a predetermined outcome.

When creating goals for yourself you want to remember to use the SMART goal setting technique. Each goal should be

  • specific
  • measurable
  • attainable
  • relevant
  • and time based!

Saying you want to increase revenue is not a goal.

Instead it should be “i want to increase revenue by 15% by april 2022.”

This is a specific and measurable action you can take that’s attainable to your business, relevant to your vision and has a time-based requirement.

You should also plan stretch goals that are a little bit out of your reach but something to work towards in the long run!

With the previous example your stretch goal could be a 20$ increase of revenue by the end of the year.

I like setting 30 and 90 day time frames with my goals. This gives you enough time to work towards whatever you aimed at and course correct or change what you’re doing if it’s not working.

What are some goals that you can implement in your business?

Depending on where you are in your business journey, you might be thinking about hiring your first employee to help you manage with your workload or you’re trying to increase your presence on social media by posting two to three times a week. Maybe you’re ready to grow your brand by creating a website, or you can take some time analyzing your business processes and see which areas can be improved by implementing new technologies into your business.

What about ways to reduce your business expenses or adding brand new services to increase the amount of income you’re receiving, or the number of customers you have, the number of reviews that you have, the number of calls you make to new clients.

And business goals interestingly enough don’t only have to revolve around your business.

You are the business!

So you should be investing in yourself in your own personal development by getting books or courses that you’re really into, maybe attend a few networking events in your town and city so you can meet like-minded professional and small business owners expanding that social network.

Probably one of the most important goals is focusing on yourself and taking more breaks.

Being a small business owner is very exciting but also taxing on you emotionally, financially, and physically!

When it comes to achieving your goals, the best tool at your disposal is surrounding yourself with people that will keep you accountable.

Find a mastermind group in your area or start one join a facebook group for small business owners or tell your close friends and significant others your goals.

Accountability can only happen when you will it into existence with your spoken and written word and someone else is acknowledging that existence.

The people who truly want what’s best for you will encourage you and the toxic people will only hold you down or try to prove that you can’t reach that goal.

It’s why i share my goals on my youtube channel and website!

This is my own accountability with you and i must practice what i preach.

My last blog i mentioned my overall goal reaching $26,300 in income by the end of the year, which is double what i made in 2021.

This means i need to make at least $2,189 every month and i’m happy to report that for January 2022 i made $3056.75!

Only 11 more months to go!

I also want to hold myself accountable with the next few goals:

  • I want to land one commercial client within 90 days and three by June 2022.
  • I’m at 17 weekly clients i aim to have 30 weekly clients by June 2022 and 40 by the end of the year!
  • I have 15 reviews across facebook and google and i aim to get that to 25 within 90 days by utilizing the NiceJob platform and using their automated system to gather reviews.

Since adding the system to my process, i’ve already received four reviews without needing to ask my clients personally!

This has always been an awkward interaction for me because i felt like i’d be begging for reviews even though most clients are happy to help you out.

Using Nicejob, that’s one less thing i need to worry about!

i’m also in the process of having Nicejob build me a website so i can funnel potential business through there alongside my facebook business page.

I plan on documenting my experience with Nicejob so hit the subscribe so you don’t miss those blogs when i release them.

If you want to get more reviews and maximize your social proof, try Nicejob for 14 days for free by clicking the this link.
